Description The Chile Pequin (also called Bird Pepper) is a native of Central America, now naturalised in parts of South East Queensland. Collected from bushland near Laidley, Qld. Extremely pungent chilli (7-8 heat). The fruit can be made into liquid hot sauces or dried and powdered to make an excellent chilli powder. I’ve been making an excellent fermented Tabasco sauce out of these chillies. A beautiful and ornamental chilli species, one of my favourites. Care and Cultivation of Capsicum annuum var. glabriusculum Capsicum annuum var. glabriusculum seeds should be sown just under the surface of a good quality seed raising mix; keep moist until germination in 1-2 weeks.
